American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2023 Features Prominent Houston Methodist Presenters

The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center will once again be well represented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2023, one of the world's largest and longest-running cardiovascular conferences.

Hosted in Philadelphia from November 10-13, the event features leading-edge science and lecture presentations from some of the most influential names in cardiovascular research.

The conference reflects the American Heart Association's mission to advance cardiovascular research and promote longer, healthier lives with topics focusing on emerging trends in AI, health equity, intersectional medicine, aging and more.

On Day 1, Dr. Khurram Nasir, director of Houston Methodist's Division of Cardiovascular Prevention and Wellness, will moderate a session on Coronary Imaging in Prevention Trials: Past, Present and Future, featuring presentations by Dr. Priyanka Satish and Dr. Miguel Cainzos.

The second day will feature renowned heart surgeon and TAVR researcher Dr. Michael Reardon presenting the latest recommendations for lifetime management of aortic valve disease and Dr. Miguel Valderrabano discussing the do's and don'ts of coronary venous ethanol infusions.

As the conference winds to a close, Dr. Kershaw Patel will moderate a discussion on obesity and the heart; Dr. Stephen Little, director of the Cardiovascular Hemodynamics Imaging Laboratory, will present an interventional echo and transcatheter update; and Dr. Sadeer Al-Kindi will provide strategies for reducing environmental stress and its impacts on the heart.
