Project Specialist Internship and Video Production Internship

Our highly competitive internship program is an exciting opportunity for outstanding college and graduate students to hone their skills in program development and administration, videography and photography, and more, at Texas’s top hospital (according to U.S. News & World Reports). DeBakey CV Education is a one-of-a-kind, globally accessible, comprehensive cardiovascular education and training program with hands-on and digital events produced daily. Interns play a key role in driving innovation and day-to-day logistics, working hand-in-hand with industry leaders to make our programs a success.

Internships are available for the spring, summer, and fall semesters, lasting 16 weeks with a time commitment of 20 hours per week. Internships are unpaid but can be used for academic credit. DeBakey CV Education currently offers two internship tracks: project specialist interns and video production interns.

Project Specialist Internship


Get hands-on administrative experience in planning, marketing, and executing virtual and in-person educational events ranging from 10 to 200 learners. Opportunities may include:

  • Program development, from conceptual planning to event logistics
  • Event marketing and advertising (including social media)
  • Program evaluation and debrief
  • Writing grant proposals to generate revenue for programs
  • Market research
  • Providing administrative support to education team
  • Engaging in business development opportunities

Qualified applicants will be graduate students interested in a career in business, finance, healthcare administration, logistics, education, or event planning. Learn more >

Please note that the application deadline for the current internship period has passed. The next application cycle will begin in Spring 2021.


Summer 2021 Internship: May 17 - August 30
Fall 2021 Internship: September 6 - December 20

The application period opens February 13, 2021 Please send the most recent copy of your resume and a personal statement of interest explaining why you chose Houston Methodist and what you expect to gain from your internship experience (500 words). Please specify the internship term(s) of interest. Applications are due February 28, 2021.

Chelsea Chmiel earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in management from Texas A&M University in 2019. She is now a graduate student at Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health. She will graduate May 2021 with a Master of Health Administration. Her experience with Houston Methodist includes an administrative graduate internship with the Houston Methodist Physician Organization.

Jessica Del Toro graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sociology from Texas A&M University in 2017. Currently she is a graduate student at Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health. She will graduate May 2021 with a Master of Health Administration. Her experience with Houston Methodist includes an administrative graduate internship with the Houston Methodist Physician Organization and the Center of Innovation.

Jose Negrete graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in public health in 2018. He is now a graduate student at the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston School of Public Health with plans to graduate in May 2021 with a Master of Public Health in healthcare management. Upon graduation, he has accepted an offer to become an Administrative Fellow with Baylor College of Medicine. His experience with Houston Methodist includes a hospital administration/operations internship in summer 2020 with the Leadership and Learning Department.

Video Production Internship


Build key skills in live and pre-recorded video production, photography, and more, working with DeBakey CV Education's world-class video production team in our in-house studios. Opportunities may include:

  • Video production
  • Editing
  • Filming
  • Photography
  • Script writing
  • Video and photography lighting
  • Video technical directing
  • Directing
  • Producing weekly TV shows
