Taraballi Lab finds promising bone graft alternative using stem cells

Nov. 20, 2020
The Taraballi Lab in collaboration with Texas A&M's Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine investigated organic and inorganic composition of anabolic bone to enhance human mesenchymal stem cell osteoinduction and scaffold mechanical properties. Published in Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, the study examines the influence of controlled release of GW9662, a PPARy inhibitor, and perfusion on the deposition of an ECM rich in collagens similar to that of newly formed bone by human mesenchymal stem cells cultured on osteoinductive scaffold.
