Cardiac Care You Can Count On
Cardiovascular disease affects nearly half of all U.S. adults and remains the leading cause of death worldwide, often progressing silently until symptoms become severe. At the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center, we confront this challenge through a comprehensive approach that addresses each patient’s specific needs.
Philanthropy accelerates progress — advancing breakthrough research and education initiatives. Today, our investigators lead more than 120 active heart and vascular clinical trials, including landmark studies on aortic stenosis, heart failure and arrhythmia. Supported by endowed chairs and critical funding, faculty publish hundreds of peer-reviewed papers annually, rapidly translating their discoveries into patient-ready care.
Established in 2002 and named for Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, the physician who put Houston on the world map for cardiovascular medicine, the center specializes in prevention, timely diagnosis and individualized care.
Bringing Women’s Heart Health Front and Center
Heart disease is a leading cause of death among women, yet warning signs are often overlooked or dismissed. Philanthropic support advances specialized training and research within the DeBakey Center, equipping physicians to better recognize, study and treat cardiovascular illness in women — and improve outcomes for patients nationwide.
