Program Mission
The Program's mission is to train physicians to provide high-quality, evidence based, cost-effective, patient centric health care to our patients and community. The program also strives to provide full spectrum training in family medicine along with training for research, advocacy, and quality improvement such that our future physicians can deliberately make a difference in the future of healthcare and community at large.
Curriculum
- 3 year residency (post medical school graduation)
- Pediatric training
- Nursery, NICU, Outpatient Pediatrics, Pediatric Electives, Pediatric ER, Pediatric Inpatient, Continuity clinic
- Inpatient Medicine – 6 months wards
- ICU training – 2 months
- Continuity Clinic
- PGY1 – At least one session per week
- PGY2 – At least two sessions per week
- PGY3 – at least 3 sessions a week

- 2 months OB, 1 month GYN

Eligibility and Application
- Early application is encouraged. We require all applications via ERAS.
- 3 letters of recommendation – must be from physicians who have worked with you clinically. If desired, may submit a 4th letter from another source if it adds to the strength of your application.
- US citizenship or permanent resident status.
- For FMGs, need proof of 5th pathway completion (if applicable), step 3 completion, ECFMG certification.
- We do not accept residents with any prior GME training.

Responsibility
- Drug and Tobacco Screening- Job seekers will be tested for nicotine and drug usage during the post-offer physical. If a job seeker tests positive for nicotine use, including nicotine gum and patches, the offer will be rescinded, and individuals will be given the opportunity to participate in a free Houston Methodist-provided tobacco cessation program. Job seekers wishing to reapply after testing positive for nicotine may do so 90 days after the date the initial offer was rescinded. If the job seeker tests positive for drug use, the offer will be rescinded. Job seekers wishing to reapply after the drug screening is positive may do so one year after the date the initial offer was rescinded.
- Background Check - Prior to employment start date, job seekers must complete a criminal background check.
