The Magnetic Resonance facility houses a state-of-the-art 70 cm wide-bore 3.0 Tesla whole-body human magnetic resonance imaging scanner. Its configuration makes this facility the ideal environment for performing preclinical and clinical translational imaging research studies.

Instrumentation

The 3.0 T MRI scanner (Ingenia, Philips Healthcare) is equipped with a large variety of coils thereby facilitating imaging of humans and a variety of preclinical models. The scanner software includes magnetic resonance spectroscopy, diffusion tensor imaging and cardiac imaging sequences (including 4D phase  contrast magnetic resonance imaging).

Facility

The design of the facility fully separates preclinical and clinical research areas with separate access to the scanner room. Holding and recovery areas exist for clinical research subjects. A preparation room with easy access to the TMHRI vivarium is available for preclinical experiments. The scanner room is in immediate proximity to the PET/SPECT imaging core thereby enabling high-throughput multi-modality imaging studies.
