Emily deAyala is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Certified Sex Therapist. Her areas of focus include the treatment of sexual pain disorders, low sexual desire, difficulty with orgasm, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, post-cancer sexual dysfunction, among many others. Emily is also a specialist in the treatment of trauma, stress, and anxiety and utilizes EMDR as one of her therapeutic modalities.
Emily completed her undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with honors, receiving a BA in Psychology. She then completed her Master of Arts in Counseling at St. Edward's University, with a dual emphasis in marriage and family therapy and licensed professional counseling.
Emily is a professional member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Houston Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). She is currently on both the Mentoring Committee and the Continuing Education Committe and serves as the Texas Section leader for AASECT.
Emily has regular public speaking engagements including presentations at Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, MD Anderson, Methodist Hospital and at various support groups and meetings in the Houston area. She also appears regularly on Great Day Houston with Deborah Duncan for the "Ask the Therapist" segment.
Emily's mission is in guiding both individuals and couples toward discovering healthy sexuality and leading more fulfilling lives. She feels passionate about relationship and sex therapy, and prides herself on her natural ability to make working through and talking about sexual concerns as comfortable as possible. She understands that many factors may lead to relationship and intimacy problems, and careful tailors her approach to meet each person’s unique needs.
