This team is available to help patients and visitors with any questions, concerns or special requests that may arise during your stay. They are available 24/7 at 713.441.4100.

Regardless of your religion or faith, Houston Methodist’s Department of Spiritual Care and Values Integration strives to provide you with resources to fulfill your spiritual needs while in the hospital. Chaplains are available throughout your stay to help address the emotional and spiritual needs of you and your guests. They can meet with you to provide support directly, provide you with meaningful faith-based support resources, or assist you in contacting a representative of your faith tradition.  

Our staff chaplains, volunteer lay ministers, Catholic Eucharistic ministers and volunteers work together to offer 24/7 spiritual support and resources, including Bibles, other sacred texts, prayer, bereavement support and more. You can also find additional resources in your iPad on the home page by clicking the icon of the praying hands.  

Our chapel and other sacred spaces are open 24/7. Please see the campus map for locations. If you have an urgent need, call your nurse or the hospital operator and ask for the on-call chaplain. You may also call 713.441.2381.

Volunteers are a key part of our hospital. They contribute their time, talent, and dedication to help you have a more pleasant stay. Our volunteers share the common goals of providing outstanding patient service and meeting the needs of the people we serve. During your stay at the hospital, you may encounter a volunteer who will be happy to assist you, so let them know if they can help.

Houston Methodist offers a restaurant style menu which offers plenty of variety and daily specials. With paperless menus and electronic ordering through our "Nutrition assistants (host/hostess)" bedside menu entry or the MyChart Let's Eat app, Houston Methodist is ready to serve you. Meal delivery and food arrival follow designated times for all units and are provided when you order. Full-time dietitians are available to provide assessments and meet special nutritional needs. 

Guest trays are available for visitors for $12 per meal and will be delivered to your room.

Advance directives are legal documents that allow you to explain and share your wishes for medical treatment to your family, health care professionals and other key people in your life. These directives are sometimes called living wills, medical powers of attorney (which is also called durable powers of attorney for health care), and out-of-hospital do-not-resuscitate orders. A reasonable effort will be made to obtain copies of your advance directives. We will also assist you to write or revise advance directives, if needed. Advance directives do not affect your access to care, treatment or services.
