U.S. News & World Report has named Houston Methodist Hospital to its top ranked Honor Roll for the fourth time and second consecutive year. This is also the ninth year in a row Houston Methodist Hospital has been named the No. 1 hospital in Texas.

“Our U.S. News rankings are especially meaningful right now as this has been an exceptionally difficult time for our health care workers,” said Marc Boom, M.D., president and CEO of Houston Methodist. “We have always served our community by providing exceptional care—during the COVID-19 pandemic and before. It’s a true testament to our commitment to being unparalleled.”

The rankings are based on scores in patient care, patient safety, outcomes, nursing, advanced technology and reputation. U.S. News has ranked Houston Methodist Hospital as one of the top hospitals in the country in at least one specialty for the past 28 years.

This year, Houston Methodist Hospital increased the number of ranked specialties from nine last year to 11 with the return of ear, nose and throat and gynecology. The hospital had six specialties in the top 20.

Ranked specialties include: cancer at No. 17; cardiology/heart surgery at No. 12; diabetes and endocrinology at No. 28; ear, nose and throat at No. 49; gastroenterology/GI surgery at No. 14; geriatrics at No. 26; gynecology at No. 26 (tie); nephrology at No. 19 (tie); neurology/neurosurgery at No. 23; orthopedics at No. 13; and pulmonology and lung surgery at No. 20.

Houston Methodist also appears in the regional and state rankings with Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital tied for No. 4 in Houston and No. 6 (three-way tie) in Texas.

U.S. News recognizes Houston Methodist Hospital with a perfect score in 10 common adult procedures and conditions including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; aortic valve surgery; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; colon cancer surgery; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); hip replacement; knee replacement; lung cancer surgery; and, new this year, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

This is a tremendous achievement for our physicians and employees who dedicate themselves every day to our patients and to our community,” Boom said.
