Houston Methodist is pleased to welcome board-certified surgeon Michelle O’Shea, M.D., to its medical staff. She joins Sandra Templeton, M.D., at Houston Methodist Breast Surgery Partners at Sugar Land, beginning July 6.

O’Shea comes to Houston Methodist from Hackensack Meridian Health’s Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, N.J., where she served as medical director of breast services and as a member of the hospital’s cancer committee.

She earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark. She completed a residency in general surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., where she focused on breast surgery and breast disease. She also has significant post-graduate training in advanced breast ultrasound and biopsy techniques.

O’Shea has been named in New Jersey Top Doctors in multiple years, received the Emerging Physician Leader award from Newton Medical Center, the Distinguished Alumna award from her Alma Mater the College of St. Elizabeth, a Mosaic Award from the community organization Project Self Sufficiency and has been named Most Compassionate Doctor.

“I am excited to join Houston Methodist Sugar Land and work alongside Dr. Templeton at Houston Methodist Breast Surgery Partners,” said O’Shea. “Compassion and reassurance have always been key elements of my practice because they are so important to patients who are navigating a breast cancer diagnosis. I know those values are shared by everyone at Houston Methodist Sugar Land, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team and providing the best possible care to my patients.”

O’Shea and Templeton specialize in oncoplastic procedures; skin-sparing mastectomies; nipple-sparing mastectomies; wireless tissue targeting for partial mastectomies/lumpectomies; hidden scar techniques; treatment of benign breast disease; and risk reduction for high-risk patients.
