Flamingos have landed at Houston Methodist West Hospital, just in time for breast cancer awareness month. These flamingos will cover the green areas of the hospital grounds and pink exterior lights will shine at night during the month of October.

“Houston Methodist West Hospital is committed to bringing awareness to our community on the importance of breast care,” said Kim Collins, director of the Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at West. “Our goal is to remind every woman to be proactive about their health and to schedule their mammogram screenings.”

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer, likely to affect one in eight women. Survival rates continue to improve steadily each year thanks to early detection and advanced treatment.

At Houston Methodist West, our multidisciplinary team of doctors and breast care staff offers personalized, comprehensive breast care services – from screenings in a spa-like atmosphere to treatment and support programs – all in one location close to home.

For the second year in a row, Houston Methodist West is partnering with LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch by hosting “A Night of Positively Pink,” a breast cancer awareness celebration. Women and their families are invited to meet our women’s health specialists, receive breast health information and enjoy live music by The Mockingbirds Band. A Night of Positively Pink is on Friday, Oct. 13 from 6-9 p.m. at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch Courtyard, located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. in Katy.
