Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine – Clear Lake will once again offer its convenient sports injury clinic for young athletes on Saturday mornings throughout the fall.

The clinic is staffed by board-certified physicians trained in sports medicine and athletic trainers who are available on a walk-in basis to evaluate injuries and begin treatment.

“Fall is the busiest time for youth sports – school, club and recreational – and our sports injury clinic makes it possible for athletes to see an experienced sports medicine specialist without waiting for a weekday appointment,” said Gillian Wooldridge, D.O., a board-certified primary care sports medicine physician at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine – Clear Lake. “We have the full range of imaging technologies available to us and we can quickly diagnose problems and begin proper treatment. That can make all the difference when it comes to getting healthy quickly and back on the field or court.”

Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine specialists can also test athletes for concussions and recommend proper treatment and playing protocols if needed.

“Having these clinics save the athletes and their parents the expense and time associated with emergency room visits,” said Wooldridge. “The Saturday sports injury clinic provides physician access to athletes immediately following an injury during a Friday night game, improving care because we are able to assess them from the beginning and follow up.”

The clinic is located at 2020 NASA Parkway, Suite 230 in Nassau Bay. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each Saturday, from Aug. 24 through Nov. 9. No appointment is necessary, and most forms of insurance are accepted.
