Social Equity Grant

The Houston Methodist Social Equity Grant was established in 2020 and supports local nonprofit organizations and collaboratives working to transform barriers to health and social equity in relationship to social determinants of health within racial and ethnic minority communities.

Racial and ethnic minority communities have disproportionately lacked access to resources that contribute to living a life that promotes overall health and wellbeing. The health inequities experienced have a direct correlation with social determinants of health. These same communities often depend on support from charitable agencies located in their neighborhoods to help bridge service and access gaps due to socioeconomic conditions. Houston Methodist is committed to closing the disparity gap described by encouraging nonprofit organizations to apply for support that targets specific racial and ethnic minority communities with focus on social determinants.
