Alysia Robichau, MD has joined Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.  Robichau, a board certified family medicine physician, is fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine, specializing in fractures, non-operative treatments of musculoskeletal injuries, and concussions.

For the past decade, Robichau has enjoyed working with student athletes in Montgomery and Harris County school districts.  She works with students by providing school physicals, and when they are injured, rehabilitation. According to Robichau, educating parents is often as important as treating the injuries, especially when the athlete has experienced trauma to the head.

“Many people don’t understand the dangers and risks of head injuries, including concussions, or how to differentiate types of head trauma. Concussions and brain hemorrhages are unique injuries and not treated the same way,” said Robichau. “Educating parents is extremely important and I want to make sure they understand the significance of questioning their child after a head injury to make sure their symptoms are noted.”

While Robichau treats patients with nonsurgical methods, sometimes surgery is required to get patients back on their feet. One thing that attracted Robichau to Houston Methodist The Woodlands is the network of orthopedic surgeons she will work with to provide her patients with all-encompassing health care.

“Houston Methodist has a reputation for making sure patients have access to the specialized care they need. I am happy that my patients will have access to these resources,” said Robichau.

Robichau welcomes patients of all ages who would like to improve their fitness levels and maintain lifestyle goals. She has been in the area nine years and has been taking care of many students as they go through life changes. Often after they graduate from high school and college, they bring their new families to her for care as well. A large part of her practice is made up of female patients she has taken care of since they were adolescents.

“I enjoy taking care of women, whether it’s sports medicine they need, guidance on lifestyle changes, weight management, or a well woman checkup,” said Robichau.

She is currently seeing patients at 3115 College Park Dr., Suite 112, The Woodlands, Texas, 77384. In April 2017, Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will open its office on the second floor Medical Office Building 1 (MOB 1), located on the Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital campus at 17183 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, Texas, 77385.
