When heart failure is advanced or difficult to manage, it’s best treated by a team of specialists who understand both the challenges of your condition as well as your unique needs.

The Advanced Heart Failure Program at Houston Methodist aims to offer the best care and outcomes for individuals with advanced heart failure. The program is a collaborative effort between DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center and J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center.

Effectively Treating & Managing Your Condition Through Advanced Treatments

Advanced heart failure cannot be cured. But the sooner you have a dedicated team, an effective care plan and the right resources, the better your condition can be treated and managed.

Care within our program starts with a comprehensive evaluation, where we leverage our extensive experience and cutting-edge imaging techniques to assess your heart condition and explore your options. We treat your symptoms of heart failure as well as your specific heart condition — with the ultimate goal being to help your heart heal.

While ventricular assist devices (VADs) and/or heart transplants may ultimately be needed, our experts are always exploring innovative options so you can live with your own heart as long as possible.

Our team also has expertise diagnosing and treating even the rarest and most challenging conditions, including:
