Governance

The direction and management of the affairs of the research institute is provided by the Houston Methodist Research Institute Board of Directors; the Board meets on a quarterly basis. In addition, several advisory committees also meet on a quarterly basis to advise on such matters as the Board may designate:

 

  • Compliance Committee
  • Finance, Intellectual Property and Commercialization Committee
  • Government and Community Affairs Committee

 

The Board of Directors is comprised of prominent leaders in business, law, health care and education.

Policies and Procedures
The Research Institute, as part of the Houston Methodist system, is subject to Houston Methodist policies and procedures. The research-specific policies of the research institute are posted on the internal network and also available on the Policy Tech application.

Houston Methodist Academic Institute (HMAI) Council of Chairs
The Council of Chairs is comprised of Houston Methodist and research institute department chairs, heads of the Centers of Excellence and the President of Medical Staff Services. They are responsible for creating, combining and eliminating academic departments, developing and reviewing strategic priorities, and representing the interests of their colleagues. The Council of Chairs also oversees the following sub-committees: Faculty Affairs, Academic Strategy, and Policies and Procedures.
