Residents may repeat any rotation in which they have a particular interest and are not limited to the rotations only offered at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Monthly Requirements
Administrative Experiences
  • Weekly management meetings
  • Rotation-specific project presentation to pharmacy leadership team
  • Weekly meetings with the Director of Pharmacy

Clinical Experiences
  • Topic and journal club discussions
  • Discharge counseling
  • In-services
  • Multidisciplinary meeting presentations

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Coordinator of Student Pharmacist Longitudinal Internship Program
  • Create or revise policies and procedures
  • Identify and develop process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in both resident and employee recruitment and selection process
  • Lead pharmacy resident team in organizing Pharmacy Week activities
  • Participate in administrative on-call duties

Staffing
  • Staffing every 3rd weekend
  • Starting in year 2 of the program, one evening shift every two weeks averaged over a four week period
  • Residents will work 2 holiday shifts per year

Presentation Opportunities
  • Poster presentation at Vizient Pharmacy Network Meeting
  • Platform presentation at Midwest Pharmacy Residents Conference
  • One hour ACPE-accredited continuing education program

Research Experience
Each resident is expected to plan, design, and complete two research projects with the guidance of a preceptor and/or graduate advisor. One project will serve as your Masters project.
