Why Methodist Women's Health Services?
Many people associate the phrase "women's health" with specific areas such as gynecology, obstetrics, and breast care. At Houston Methodist Hospital, we view women's health care from a broader perspective, offering general wellness and illness programs tailored specifically to women. As many conditions create different symptoms and effects in each gender, women benefit from access to doctors who understand their complex physiology. Our illness program is all-inclusive and is staffed by physicians from each department who are knowledgeable of gender differences in conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and mental health. Our wellness program is directed primarily toward prevention, and covers topics such as nutrition, exercise, and weight control. Methodist Women's Health Services delivers advanced, comprehensive health care to every patient in an environment of respect, kindness and support.
The Methodist Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a prestigious reputation among patients and the medical community. We have earned this reputation through personalized, compassionate, high-quality care, and through academic excellence in both teaching and research. To maintain quality of care at its highest level, the department has several subspecialty sections to provide consultation and to help treat even the most complicated and complex problems. These sections are Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine offers special expertise in preconception counseling, prenatal screening and diagnosis, genetic counseling and high-risk pregnancy consultation care. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology manages cancers of the reproductive organs. Our highly specialized team approach to cancer management includes gynecologic oncologists, radiotherapists, medical oncologists and pathologists, who work closely with each other and with each patient to provide world-class, individualized cancer care.
The Division of Urogynecology is an integral part of the Center for Restorative Pelvic Medicine. This center was established in 2006 to provide complete, broad-spectrum treatment for pelvic floor disorders by integrating gynecology, urology, colorectal surgery, and plastic surgery.
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility provides comprehensive care for women with complex hormonal disorders and for women who are having difficulty conceiving. For the latter, we offer advanced reproductive technologies and in vitro fertilization.
