Dr. Khoury received his first academic appointment in 1993 as an Instructor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He became an Assistant Professor of Medicine there in 1996, and an Associate Professor of Medicine in 2002. Dr. Khoury joined the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in 2006, and the faculty at Weill Cornell in 2007. Dr. Khoury continues to be a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, an appointment he received in 1998.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Khoury has consistently received awards and honors for his research. He has received three Grants-in-Aid from the Texas Affiliate of the American Heart Association, as well as a Grant-in-Aid from the National Center. In 1996, Dr. Khoury received the Lyndon B. Johnson Research Award from the Texas Affiliate for his research in the reconstruction of endocardial potentials and excitation sequences. His research efforts as principal investigator have been continuously funded by the NIH since 2002.
Dr. Khoury’s research centers on cardiac electrophysiology and, primarily, the development of catheter-based cardiac imaging systems, and instrumentation for measuring cardiovascular parameters in preclinical and clinical models.
