Christof Karmonik, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellowship, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
After completing his postdoctoral training in 2000, Dr. Karmonik joined the faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas as Instructor in the Department of Medicine. He became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology there in 2002. In addition to his academic appointments, Dr. Karmonik was also a senior software engineer for the Schlumberger Companies. He joined The Methodist Hospital and Research Institute in 2005.
Dr. Karmonik’s research has included the effect of lipid modification on peripheral arterial disease, brain volumetric analysis and cognition in Parkinson’s Disease, reliable measurement of brain glutamate levels in ALS patients with 3.0 t 1h-mrs, atherosclerotic plaque composition in peripheral vascular disease, and brain imaging in stuttering.
