Spring Break traffic alert
The week of Spring Break (March 10-18) is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors daily to an area of Houston that includes the Museum District, Hermann Park, the Houston Zoo and Reliant Park which hosts the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. That additional traffic added to the daily flow in and out of the Texas Medical Center may cause some delays. So the City of Houston is asking visitors to consider alternative routes, parking and modes of transportation. The city has suggested driving directions and recommended parking locations to help ease traffic and avoid delays. Visitors are also urged to ride METRORail, which stops conveniently close to museums, the park, the zoo, the medical center and the rodeo. In general: if you plan to visit this part of Houston come in from the south if possible, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
