Occupational therapists (OT) at Houston Methodist West Hospital help patients with injuries to the hand and upper extremities. Our OTs are instrumental in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions and cognitive disorders. After injury or surgery, we help patients re-learn the skills needed to actively engage in the basic activities of daily life and work. Our goal is to restore our patients’ independence as quickly as possible after an injury or illness. We encourage and enable our patients to fully participate in life during and after recovery from illness.
Physical therapists (PT) at Houston Methodist West help patients restore healthy, pain-free movement and prevent the loss of mobility that can come with inactivity after an injury or illness. Our physical therapists help patients work through exercises that strengthen muscles and train them in the proper body mechanics that support healthy movement.
Speech-language pathologists (SLP) at Houston Methodist West work with patients to strengthen their linguistic, communication and swallowing skills, targeting specific speech defects that may be a result of injury, illness or cognitive disorder. Our SLPs work seamlessly as part of a medical team to address each patient’s individual needs and requirements.
