Center for Performing Arts Medicine

The Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM) at Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center is a complete health home for the performing artist. The only center of its kind in the country, CPAM comprises specialized group of more than 100 physicians working collaboratively to address the specific demands placed on performing artists. Our elite doctors, spanning most specialties, care for the elite artists of the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, students from Rice University and performing artists from around the globe.
The mission of CPAM is to deliver specialized healthcare and wellness education of the highest quality to performing artists, to integrate the fine arts into the hospital environment and through interventional research, to harness the effects of the arts in patient care, rehabilitation and human performance.” — C. Richard Stasney, MD, FACS, founder and endowed chair of CPAM
This mission is the guiding light for our four pillars of focus:

A dedicated call center staffed by CPAM liaisons is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to refer and schedule appointments for performing artists. The CPAM doctors and support staff recognize the artist’s need to rapidly return to the stage.
