Application Information

The program has been approved for 11 residents.  We accepted two PGY1 residents for the current Academic Year, and will accept one PGY1 for AY 2014-15.  Our program utilizes the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the matching process. Applicants must register with both NRMP and ERAS to participate in the services of both. Please see these websites for instructions: www.nrmp.org and www.aamc.org/students/eras

Time Table

Applicants are encouraged to have their application, prepared through ERAS, completed to begin applying on September 1, 2012. This will allow our residency selection committee to review their application in October. 

  • Application receipt deadline is October 15, 2013.
  • Interviews are by invitation only.  If you have been selected for interview, you will be contacted by email through the ERAS system.
  • 2013-2014 Interview Dates (Interview day begins at 7 a.m. on Friday and concludes with dinner with the residents Friday evening):

Elective Rotations

Applicants interested in an elective rotation prior to the interview season must first submit the TMHEI Rotating Learner Application to begin the process. This application packet is located at tmhei.cfm?id=37229.  Under “Rotating Learner Applications”  select  Medical Student.  The application must be submitted electronically to THMEI and be complete four weeks prior to the start of the rotation.  The email address is TMHeduinstitute@HoustonMethodist.org. A section entitled “Frequently Asked Questions” is provided under “Rotating Lerner Application Information” to answer questions regarding the requirements for rotations at our institution.
