The Sleep Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine
The Houston Methodist Comprehensive sleep Disorders Program employs a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat sleep disorders including chronic insomnia, narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and neurodegenerative diseases including alzheimer’s disease, aLs, and Parkinson’s disease.
Led by neurologist Aparajitha Verma, M.D., the clinic and sleep lab have screened and treated more than 7,600 patients for sleep disorders since 2007, when the program was officially designated as part of the Methodist Neurological Institute.
Success in combating sleep disorders often lies in how well patients comply with treatment guidelines. Dr. Verma and her sleep center colleagues follow patients closely to address physical and lifestyle issues that can affect a patient’s willingness or ability to comply with treatment instructions. The program includes consultants for patients with psychiatric and behavioral issues, anatomical abnormalities that can be treated by oral maxillofacial surgery and otolaryngology. Technologists are available to ensure that durable medical equipment prescribed for the home is properly outfitted and tested for each patient to provide confident use and outcomes.
The Center offers a wide spectrum of services for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders:
