Signs and Symptoms

Contact your doctor if you notice any of these changes in your breasts:

  • A new lump, hard knot or abnormal thickening of the breast
  • Swelling, warmth, redness or discoloration of the skin on the breast and/or nipple
  • Change in size or shape of one breast
  • One breast appears abnormally lower than the other
  • Dimpling or puckering of the skin
  • Itchy, scaly skin or rash on one nipple
  • Pulling in of your nipple (inverted) or other parts of the breast
  • Abnormal discharge from the nipple
  • New and steady pain in one area of the breast

If you do not have a physician to coordinate your breast care, contact our Breast Care Navigator, Maria Socci at 281-276-8989 or MSocci@houstonmethodist.org. She will help guide you, schedule your initial appointment, and if necessary, coordinate any additional breast care needs.
