Methodist Cancer Center at Willowbrook Hosts Free National Cancer Survivors Day Event

Willowbrook, TX - 6/3/2013

All cancer survivors, caregivers, providers and members of the community who are passionate about supporting National Cancer Survivors Day are invited to celebrate life and honor survivors of cancer on Friday, June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. The celebration will be held in the Healing Garden on the fourth floor of the North Pavilion at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, 18220 State Highway 249. Light refreshments will be served. To RSVP, call 281-737-2500. There is no charge for this event.

According to a recent report by the American Cancer Society1, there are approximately 13.7 million cancer survivors in the United States, including more than 878,000 in Texas. The total number of survivors is expected to exceed 17.9 million by January 2022. The median age at diagnosis of cancer is 66 and the most common cancer sites among survivors include prostate, breast, colon and rectum, uterine and melanoma.

The Cancer Center at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, which is an extension of The Methodist Hospital’s long standing involvement in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, is located in the Centerfield Outpatient Center on the Methodist Willowbrook campus.
