The multidisciplinary approach of the Medical Oncology Division at Houston Methodist Hospital sets it apart as a team of specialists capable of treating numerous malignancies with some of the most advanced treatments and research available. Houston Methodist combines surgical, medical, radiological, pathological and pharmacological expertise on tumor boards so that patients receive individualized treatment plans for maximum effectiveness and the best chance for positive outcomes.

Medical oncologists at Houston Methodist use the latest clinical and translational research to treat patients suffering from many types and stages of cancer. They follow the treatment paradigms outlined by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG) and the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), which allows them to use the highest level of medical evidence available. Their access to translational research enables them to enroll certain patients in clinical trials relevant to their genetic composition with the hope of achieving high success rates and advanced medical insights.

Medical oncologists work closely within the Methodist Cancer Center and dedicated the Methodist Breast Center to ensure that all cancer patients receive compassionate care as both inpatients and outpatients. Methodist Breast Center has breast-health specialists in surgery, plastic surgery, radiation and pathology, along with social workers and other health care professionals working collaboratively to provide quality care to breast cancer patients. Houston Methodist has dedicated wards for oncology inpatients as well as outpatient facilities that are highly effective at ensuring cancer patients receive personalized, dignified care at every stage of treatment.
