Clinical Pastoral Education
The Houston Methodist Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE) to offer all levels of CPE (levels I and II, supervisory). The program has been in existence since 1967.
Chaplains and CPE students are integrated into the health care team, and their participation in patient and family care is expected and appreciated. One example of our spiritual care is a program called "No One Dies Alone." Through this program, we make sure that dying patients are spiritually accompanied as they die.
At Houston Methodist, we seek students who want to extend hospitality, service and love to the sick and those who care for them. We seek students who are open to learning, spiritually sensitive and motivated to participate in the healing ministry of Houston Methodist.
