The Methodist Wellness Services’ Internship Program allows us to share our experience and expertise with undergraduate and graduate students during 8-12 week internship experiences. Interns assist in developing, implementing and evaluating worksite wellness programs to improve the health, productivity and well-being of employees while simultaneously helping manage direct and indirect health care costs and support our corporate vision. We have a multi-disciplinary team committed to helping Methodist employees and spouses improve their health, well-being and performance. Methodist Wellness Services (MWS) sponsors undergraduate and graduate students for 8—12 week unpaid internships during the summer, fall and spring semesters. The intern(s) gain competence in biometric screenings, health assessments, health education and behavioral change programs, and program planning, implementation and evaluation. Interns complete a value-added project and present it to key stakeholders. The intern(s) gain an overview of how MWS functions in a multihospital organization as well as our corporate wellness programs which serve more than 450 employers. The intern(s) meet with the program's preceptors on a regular basis to discuss the internship experience.
EligibilityApplicant(s) must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate disciplines such as, but not limited to, health promotion, health promotion management, wellness management, health science, health education, integrative medicine, exercise science or public health.
How to Apply
Students interested in participating in the unpaid internship program should submit the following:
- Completed MWS Intern Application Form
- A one-page statement discussing why you are interested in an internship in MWS; what you can contribute to MWS; and what you hope to gain from the experience as an intern at MWS
- Two letters of professional recommendation (i.e., one academic and one job related)
- A current resume
- A transcript of all undergraduate and/or graduate work
