Flow Cytometry Instruments
Consultations with the core director are available by appointment and recommended prior to performing experiments for the first time. For appointments, please contact David Haviland (firstname.lastname@example.org). Flow Cytometry core staff will advise on:
- Experimental design (choice of fluorochrome, etc.)
- Sample preparation
- The proper tubes to use
- Excitation and detection
- BD FACS LSRII - A five laser instrument with 355, 405, 488, 561, and 630 nm excitation sources available, capable of 14 color analysis.
- BD FACS Fortessa - A four laser instrument with 405, 488, 561, and 630 nm excitation sources available, capable of 13 color analysis. In addition, this instrument is also equipped with a Forward Scatter PMT in addition to the FSC photodiode.
- Amnis Imagestream X - a multilaser system capable of individual mulitcolor cells analysis. This instrument is a shared instrument between the Flow Cytometry Core and the Microscopy Core (Advanced Tissue and Cellular Imaging).
BD FACS AriaII - A six laser instrument with 355, 405, 488, 550, 630, and 785 nm excitation sources, capable of 18 color analysis. This instrument is equipped with an Forward Scatter PMT in addition to the FSC photodiode. The instrument is capable of sorting up to 50,000 events/sec. It has temperature controlled sort and collection chambers. Four way sorting is available ( 5ml, 1.5ml, and 1.1ml tubes only), as well as into almost any type of plate.
