  • Patient Education
  • Wound Care
  • Splinting
  • Conervative Management
  • Post Surgical Rehabilitation

The specialized hand therapy available at the Hand Center at Methodist Willowbrook focuses on the re-strengthening, retraining and recovery associated with the common as well as complex injuries and conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity.

Hand therapy, also referred to as occupational therapy, requires a special understanding of the biomechanics and intricate network and connectivity of the small bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves of the hand, wrist, elbow and upper arm.

Hand therapy is instrumental in helping the active and athlete alike modify a stance or movement, in order to reduce the risk of a repetitive stress injury or recurring sports-related injury.

The field of hand therapy has advanced significantly over the years. The understanding of hand anatomy and function today has contributed to the advancing technology and therapeutic techniques designed to better diagnose, treat and rehabilitate the hand, wrist and elbow.
