Academic Leadership
Many of our doctors who practice within the Houston Methodist Department of Medicine are not just practicing physicians — they are also teachers. We are fortunate to have a large group of expert professional staff of Houston Methodist, which currently includes more than 450 internal medicine attendings, who provide general medicine and subspecialty care to hospitalized patients and serve as a tremendous teaching resource for medical residents in the Department of Medicine. Holding academic appointments at Weill Cornell Medical College, they are actively involved in training the next generation of physicians — both at Houston Methodist and through presentations and seminars held at hospitals and medical schools across the United States. This role helps to keep our physicians on the cutting edge of new understanding, new procedures and advances in patient care.

Within the Department of Medicine, we are able to draw upon 50 years of teaching experience and have created a premier educational environment. We invite you to learn more about our growth at Houston Methodist and explore our two residency programs: Internal Medicine and Transitional Year.
