Dr. Miller graduated from medical school first in his class, receiving his medical degree in 2010 from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. After his residency in clinical and anatomic pathology at the Sanford School of Medicine (2010 - 2014), he completed fellowships in cytopathology (2014 - 2015) and surgical pathology (2015 - 2016) in the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital. At the end of his surgical pathology fellowship in July 2016, Dr. Miller was appointed to staff pathologist in our department.
Dr. Miller is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and is licensed by the Texas Medical Board. He is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and cytopathology. He is currently serving as the Pulmonary Pathology Society (PPS) representative on appropriate collection and handling of Thoracic specimens for the CAP. He is a section editor in molecular cytopathology for the journal Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and is an application advisory board member and developer of CytoAtlas (an iPhone- and iPad-based application for cytopathology education).
Dr. Miller is actively involved in several professional societies such as the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Texas Society of Pathologists, the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the American Society of Cytopathology, the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Medical Association, and others.
Dr. Miller has a particular interest in pulmonary pathology. His current research efforts are focused in predictive biomarkers applications in lung carcinomas.
