After completion of his postdoctoral training, Dr. Corry joined the faculty at the University of California at San Francisco as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Medicine. He accepted an appointment at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1999 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Corry would later become a full professor of medicine and immunology there, as well as the Nancy Chang, Ph.D. Professor for the Biology of Inflammation Center, also at Baylor.

Description of Research

Dr. Corry’s research is focused on immune mechanisms of lung disease. His past research projects have included defining critical roles played by CD4+ T cells in lung inflammation and describing the distinct contributions of cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 in the immunopathogenesis of experimental allergic airway disease. Dr. Corry has also made fundamental discoveries on the role of integrins in T cell function and the role of innate immunity in controlling allergic lung disease, focusing specifically on the roles of exogenous proteinases and fungi as allergens and airway epithelial derived cytokines and proteinases such as IL-25 and matrix metalloproteinase 7. Additional major areas of research are microRNAs and the control of immunity and development of nanoparticulate vaccines.
