Studies have shown that in patients over age 70, there is a 14-24 percent prevalence of delirium upon admission and a 6-54 percent incidence of delirium in the hospital. However, delirium is missed frequently and is coded at very low levels. This course is intended for the interdisciplinary members of the healthcare team in the hospital setting to improve knowledge of issues surrounding delirium in the elderly hospitalized patient. This 23 question module focuses on the evidence behind the recognition, prevention, and management of delirium in the geriatric patient.
Interactive Spaced Education [ISE] is a novel approach to online education in which small amounts of educational material are delivered and repeated over spaced intervals via interactive emails. Several recent randomized trials have demonstrated that this ISE methodology improves learning of medical knowledge and is extremely well accepted by learners.
