FORTUNE ranks The Methodist Hospital System among “100 Best Companies to Work for” in 2012Houston, TX - 1/19/2012
For the seventh year in a row, The Methodist Hospital System is ranked among FORTUNE magazine’s 2012 “100 Best Companies to Work For,” remaining the only health care organization ranked in Texas.
Methodist is ranked No. 53 and is one of four companies in Houston to receive the prestigious distinction. FORTUNE listed 11 Texas-based companies on its 2012 list.
Among the other companies listed, Methodist ranked No. 2 for the hiring of minorities and No. 12 among the country’s large companies. “Our employees and physicians make it possible to be honored as one of the “100 Best Companies” for seven consecutive years,” said Marc Boom, M.D., president and CEO of The Methodist Hospital System. “Methodist is a great place to work because of them and because of their complete and selfless dedication to our patients and to our values.”
The Methodist Hospital System, which includes a flagship teaching hospital, four community hospitals and a research institute, was awarded the national ranking for providing an exemplary workplace for employees.
Methodist was selected based primarily on a confidential survey sent to randomly selected employees, who answered questions on the level of trust, pride and camaraderie within their workplace.
Methodist also submitted documentation about its work environment, from benefits to corporate policies to employee demographics. Methodist offers competitive benefits, diversity in the workforce, recognition for employees and a unique environment focused on integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
The Methodist Hospital consistently is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s best hospitals, ranked in 11 of 16 adult specialties for 2011-2012, the most in the state. Methodist also was ranked by the magazine as the No.1 hospital in Houston.
