Leading Medicine television special focuses on heart disease

Leading Medicine television special on heart disease aired Saturday, January 26 at 7 p.m. on KHOU Channel 11. Doctors in the Methodist DeBakey Heart Center are featured leading medicine in the prevention of heart disease.

Utilizing the most advanced technologies, innovative research and dedication to patient care, physicians in the Methodist DeBakey Heart Center are treating the highest risk patients with some of the best outcomes.

$200 Heart Scan includes:
Calcium Score: Using a CT scanner, this test checks for calcium build-up of plaque on the artery walls. It is used to detect coronary artery disease and if present, determine the severity.

$400 Heart Scan Plus includes:
Calcium Score: Using a CT scanner, this test checks for calcium build-up of plaque on the artery walls. It is used to detect coronary artery disease and if present, determine the severity.

Vascular Screening: Carotid Artery Doppler Screening: Using ultrasound, this test takes a picture of blood vessels to check for blockages.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening: Using ultrasound, this test looks at the abdominal aorta and checks for thinning or ballooning, either of which could suggest a potential rupture.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Screening: Blood pressure cuffs are placed on the ankles to evaluate blood flow in the legs. This test is used to asses potential hardening of the arteries.
