Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital Again Earns an “A” Patient Safety ScoreWillowbrook, TX - 11/4/2013
Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has again received an “A” Hospital Safety Score SM from The Leapfrog Group, an employer-based coalition advocating for improved transparency, quality, and safety in hospitals. The A, B, C, D or F scores are assigned to U.S. hospitals based on preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections. Only 26 percent of hospitals in Texas and 32 percent of hospitals nationwide received an A rating.
The Hospital Safety Score is determined by hospitals’ performance on 28 safety measures using data from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the American Hospital Association’s annual survey. Scores are compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and are designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
“This rating reaffirms our commitment to the community that we adhere to the highest standards of patient care, quality and service,” said Beryl Ramsey, chief executive officer at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and senior vice president of Houston Methodist. “We will remain focused on meeting and exceeding the expectations of each and every patient at our hospital to ensure the best possible care and experience.”
