Houston Methodist adds emergency facility in PearlandHouston, TX - 9/18/2013
Residents will gain easier access to Houston Methodist care
Pearland residents will soon have access to Houston Methodist emergency care services in their community.
Houston Methodist recently began construction of the Pearland Emergency Care Center at 11525 Broadway. Expected to open in spring 2014, the emergency care center will feature 10 exam rooms and a full spectrum of emergency medical services, including a digital radiology suite, 32-slice CT scanner (low radiation dose option available), ultrasound, and an on-site chemistry lab.
On September 18, Houston Methodist hosted a community breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn in Pearland to celebrate the construction of the new center. Dr. Marc L. Boom, president and chief executive officer of Houston Methodist, and Pearland Mayor Tom Reid welcomed the community and shared their thoughts on the new Houston Methodist facility.
"The community of Pearland holds a special place in my heart," said Boom. "When I came back to Houston in 1997, I started my family medicine practice in Pearland. It's very exciting for me to see Houston Methodist opening a facility here."
"It is with a great deal of pleasure that I say thank you for coming to Pearland," Reid said.
At the community breakfast, Dr. Jeremy Finkelstein, section chief of emergency medicine for Houston Methodist Hospital and Emergency Care Centers, described the benefits of the new Pearland Emergency Care Center, such as 24/7 access to board-certified emergency room physicians.
"When a patient requires admission to the hospital, emergency care center staff will expedite transfer to Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center," said Finkelstein. "Once there, the patient will have access to physicians in all specialties represented at Houston Methodist."
Houston Methodist also has emergency care centers in the Upper Kirby and Tanglewood areas.
