Sports injury clinics return for fallHouston, TX - 8/19/2013
Young athletes have easy access to sports medicine physicians
Just in time for the fall sports season, Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will open Saturday morning sports injury clinics around the Houston area this weekend to help athletes recover from injuries incurred during a week of practice and games.
Saturday morning clinics provide easy access to the doctors and physical therapists who care for the Houston Texans, Houston Dynamo and Houston Astros.
The sports injury clinics provide an avenue outside the traditional work or school day for young athletes to have their injuries evaluated by Houston’s leading sports medicine and orthopedic physicians,” said Jace Duke, a licensed athletic trainer and operations coordinator of Athletic Training Services at Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
Imaging services, such as X-rays, will be available on-site, while an MRI can be scheduled for the same day. Concussions will be evaluated by an on-site physician and, if needed, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled with the Houston Methodist Concussion Center.
Open August 24-Nov. 9, sports injury clinics will be available every Saturday morning across the Houston area at the following locations:
In north Houston, sports injury clinics will open on August 24 and be available through Nov. 16.
Monday evening clinics will also be available between 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine office at the Houston Amateur Sports Park at 12131 Kirby in Houston.
Insurance is accepted for visits at the sports injury clinics. Parents are strongly encouraged to be present while their young athlete is being seen and treated.
