Welcome to the Spiritual Care and Education Department
Clinical Pastoral Education
Dear Prospective Student,
Welcome to the web pages for CPE at The Methodist Hospital. It is our hope that you will get a feel for this hospital, the ministry team that serves here, and the unique aspects of CPE in this setting. To get a complete picture, please explore the Spiritual Care and Education pages and the hospital website as well.
The Methodist Hospital remains committed to its ties with its founding denomination. As a result, the spiritual needs of patients and staff are taken very seriously. Chaplains and CPE students are integrated into the healthcare team and their participation in patient and family care is expected and appreciated. One example of our spiritual care is a program called “No One Dies Alone.” Through this program, we make sure that dying patients are spiritually accompanied as they die. This program was one of the contributing factors in The Methodist Hospital’s ranking among Fortune Magazine’s top 100 places to work.
At The Methodist Hospital we seek students who want to extend hospitality, service, and love to the sick and those who care for them. We seek students who are open to learn, spiritually sensitive, and motivated to participate in the healing ministry of The Methodist Hospital.
If joining The Methodist Hospital Spiritual Care family interests you, please contact us for further information.
