Matagorda Episcopal Health Outreach Program (MEHOP) is a community health center that serves Matagorda, Wharton and surrounding counties. The mission of MEHOP is to improve the health status of our clients by providing quality primary health care services and spiritual care to people in the communities we serve regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, or the ability to pay. MEHOP’s fixed site is located in Bay City, TX. Transportation to the clinic is available upon request.

MEHOP offers primary medical and dental care as well as case management, 340B Pharmacy services and a variety of extra services. MEHOP is a host site for angel food ministries and has a community garden. MEHOP offers free books to children, free vitamins and educational sessions such as diabetes self management classes.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteers are embraced at MEHOP is a variety of ways. Volunteers help with administrative duties including preparing new charts and answering the phone. MEHOP is an Angel Food Ministries Site and plants 2 community gardens a year. Volunteers are needed to take orders, distribute food, prepare the ground for harvest, plant, weed, water and harvest. MEHOP also has a reading room for volunteers to read to children. MEHOP always needs help with its fundraising activities.

Other needs:
MEHOP’s greatest need is referral sources for our patients who require additional testing, verification of diagnosis and specialty treatment. Vitamins for children (our prior source can no longer supply) are also needed.
