Covenant House Texas offers an array of programs and services to homeless and runaway youth under the age of 21. Services include medical exams, treatment, HIV testing, crisis trauma and intervention, case management, street-based outreach services, a 24-hour crisis shelter, transitional housing, vocation training, education assistance, free medical care, substance abuse and mental health counseling, pastoral care as well as after care services.
Faith Community Volunteers can serve for six months or one year, with the option to recommit for an additional year. During their service commitment, volunteers are assigned to serve 40 hours per week, in 8-10 hour shifts, at one of the Covenant House crisis centers. Most volunteers serve as Resident Advisors, Youth Advisors or Case Managers on a youth residential floor. Volunteers with specialized experience and/or certifications may serve in medical services, outreach, or pastoral care programs.
