Dr. Eric Haufrect is a native Houstonian. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from Baylor college of Medicine where he also completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been on the staff of The Methodist Hospital since 1977 where he serves as a senior attending. Dr. Haufrect has been the Elected Deputy Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Methodist Hospital since 1988. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Gyn operating rooms at Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Haufrect has been a member of the OB/GYN active staff of Ben Taub General Hospital where he serves as a volunteer in Gyn surgery. He has participated in the GYN operating room at Ben Taub each month with the Gyn residents for the past 28 years. He has been given the outstanding volunteer faculty teaching award by the OB/GYN residents nine times since 1988.
