Research Opportunities

Research Opportunities

With the pace of scientific knowledge expansion, surgeons and scientists need to forge collaborations to optimize their investigative efforts. The Methodist Hospital Department of Surgery incorporates not only surgeon-scientists but also full time scientists as faculty investigators. The core investigative teams conduct basic, clinical, and translational research linked with multi-disciplinary program areas.

While formal research is not required of residents, opportunities are available in basic and clinical science research. Residents are not required to do research and may complete their clinical training in five years.

Below are the funded research projects currently underway.
