  1. How can I make an appointment with a CPAM physician?
    A special telephone number has been linked to The Methodist Call Center where a triage nurse will assist you. The nurse refers professional artists to the appropriate CPAM physician and assists in coordinating the artist's care. The number to the Call Center is 713.394.6088. CPAM physicians agree to make appointments available within 48 hours for professional performing artists.
  2. What are the advantages of Houston Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine Artist Card?
    Professional performing artists have access to first-rate medical care, services and treatment by highly trained specialists at The Methodist Hospital. You will receive periodic updates on developments in the field of performing arts medicine. If you should need to be admitted to the hospital or arrive in an emergency, a patient liaison will be notified upon your arrival. He/She will be able to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. If you are admitted to the hospital for a planned visit without going through the Emergency Department, your Artist Card alerts the patient liaison to your status. CPAM also provides physicals and preventive health care packages in partnership with Methodist Wellness Services.
  3. What else does the program offer?
    The Healing Arts Exhibition and Performance Series promote health and healing by brings the arts into the hospital setting. Photography exhibits are displayed throughout the year while live performances are periodically presented for the benefit of hospital visitors, patients, and employees. The Stay on Stage program delivers wellness services to the arts community via:
    • Flu shots
    • Healthy Knowledge seminars
    • Healthy Lifestyle screenings
  4. What happens if I am sick and I have not registered?
    Call Houston Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine Call Center at 713.394.6088 and tell the triage nurse you are a professional artist. Every effort will be made to help you obtain an appointment quickly. In the case of an emergency, call ahead to The Methodist Hospital Emergency Department to alert the staff of your occupation. Tell the receptionist that you are professional performing artist and describe your health issue. This will facilitate locating the proper specialist to treat you. If this is not possible, let the emergency personnel know on arrival.
  5. What if my insurance is not currently honored by the hospital or by one of the CPAM physicians?
    The Methodist Hospital and its physicians work with many insurance carriers and will provide information on the insurance plans which are honored. If you do not have insurance, you may qualify for financial assistance. The hospital can work with you to identify your status. Please seek financial guidance before receiving services. This process is the same for all individuals, regardless of occupation.
