Our Radiation Oncologists act as consultants, and lead the medical team in planning and implementing radiation treatment. Radiation oncologists have an extensive knowledge of the entire process of radiation therapy, from the diagnosis and biology of the cancer to the technological aspects of treatment implementation. While our radiation oncologists each have their own specialties within radiation therapy, they are each qualified to treat many different tumor specific sites.

Dr E. Brian Butler

Dr. Butler is the Chairman and Medical Director for the Department of Radiation Oncology services within Houston Methodist. Additionally he serves as clinical professor for Weill Medical School of Cornell University. Dr. Butler specializes in the treatment of malignancies associated with the head/neck and prostate. Furthermore, he is an active investigator in research protocols that combine gene therapy in conjunction with radiation therapy.

Brent Bell, Ph.D.

Brent Bell, Ph.D.Dr. Bell joined Houston Methodist Hospital from MD Anderson Cancer Center after 10 years experience in surgery and radiation oncology. He was intricately involved in the Physician Assistant Residency program and served for three years as Journal Club moderator.  He has participated in a multitude of publication and has joined the Houston Methodist Hospital to act as Physician Assistant Coordinator and Physician Assistant to the Chairman, Dr. Brian Butler.
