About Reflux Disease

How to Receive Care

Individuals experiencing symptoms of reflux disease or other gastrointestinal motility disorders may be referred to the Reflux Center & GI Physiology Lab by their physician (Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, ENT, Pulmonary, Surgery, or Family Physicians) for diagnostic testing.

If you think you would benefit from these services, please contact your physician. Get a physician referral.

Reflux Disease/GERD can mimic other diseases

Because reflux disease symptoms are similar to those of other diseases and/or conditions, it is important to have the following symptoms evaluated for a proper diagnosis:

  • chest pains such as those commonly associated with angina or a heart attack;
  • hoarseness, a chronically sore throat, frequent throat clearing, ear pain, and/or post-nasal drip symptoms;
  • coughing, asthma-like symptoms such as wheezing, which begin in adulthood, and made worse by lying down, especially at night.
