Dr. Gulchin A. Ergun, MD

Dr. Gulchin A. Ergun, MD

Dr. Gulchin A. Ergun is the Medical Director of The Methodist Hospital Digestive Disease Department, Reflux Center & GI Physiology Lab and the Clinical Service Chief of Gastroenterology at The Methodist Hospital. She holds a dual appointment and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

An Ohio native, she received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and did her fellowship in gastroenterology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Ergun was recruited to Houston in 1998 to join the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and to start The Methodist Hospital Reflux Center. She has focused her academic interests on the pathophysiology of gastro-esophageal reflux disease and extra-esophageal complications of gastro-esophageal reflux disease, such as reflux laryngitis and chronic cough. She has authored more than 50 journal articles and book chapters, and she participates in numerous international and national professional organizations, including the World Organization of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians.

She has been named as a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology and received the Northwestern University Medical School Alumni Achievement Award for Excellence in Gastroenterology. She has been named as one of America’s Top Physicians, Houston’s Top Physicians, Best Doctors in America, and is a life member of the National Registry of Who’s Who.

She is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and established a private practice in gastroenterology in 2005.

Yolanda Smith, RN, MSN, CGRN

Yolanda Smith received her Master’s of Science in Nursing in 2007 at the University of Phoenix Online, Phoenix, AZ. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1997 at Texas Women’s University, Houston, TX. Yolanda has been with The Methodist Reflux Center & GI Physiology Lab since its opening in 1998. She provides our patients with skilled and progressive nursing care with respect and integrity. Yolanda has participated and taught in all the Reflux Center Educational Seminars and workshops.

George Guillory, LVN

George Guillory, LVN

George Guillory brings more than 10 years of experience with physiology procedures. She has been with The Methodist Reflux Center & GI Physiology Lab since its opening in 1998. George provides our patients with compassionate nursing care in a caring and relaxed environment.

Maria Davis, RN

Maria Davis, RN

Maria Davis has recently joined the Reflux Center team. She has many years of experience and demonstrates nursing skill, respect and compassion when caring for patients.

Lisa Santos

Lisa Santos, Secretary

Lisa Santos is the newest member of the Reflux Center team. Lisa brings enthusiasm and a great desire to learn and serve our customers. Her role is to provide support to staff, patients, medical staff, and our referring physicians and their office staff.
